Cornwell Jewelers since 1869

American Gem Society

Cornwell Jewelers has been a member of the American Gem Society (AGS) since 1969. Membership in the society is an honor that only 1,200 of the 26,000 jewelry stores in America have received. Started in 1934, AGS formed from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA). Roberty Shipley founded the AGS to promote gemological knowledge, ethical business practices, and consumer protection. He realized a need to set these jewelers apart from the rest. AGS stores are those which are long standing members of the community. They care about the community they are in, and want to share their knowledge with people to help them make informed decisions. There are many organizations in the jewelry industry, but AGS is the most respected. If your jeweler is not a member of AGS, you might ask why not.
