My Dad became active in the business in the late 1960's. He and Pa often didn't see eye-to-eye on how to run the business. With Pa's approval he opened a second branch of the store called "Cornwell & Son Jewelers" on the corner of Court and Union Street. In 1987 the two stores merged, and the Ten South Court Street location was chosen for its long history.

Pa was active in the business until his death in 1990. When my parents asked me to take over the store, I had just finished a graduate degree from Ohio University.  I had no plans of running the store, but they pulled at my heartstrings and I finally agreed to try it for six months. That was in 1994.

I never thought I would be operating the store - but it was the best decision! To help people celebrate the most wonderful times of their lives is a priviledge. I've made great friends and gotten to work with people who have become part of our family. Who could ask for more?

CORNWELL JEWELERS AT 10 SOUTH COURT STREET

After 171 years at the same location we have moved into a larger space. It was a hard decision for us to leave a spot with such a history. Now located at Sevent Seven North Court Street we are very happy to have a spacious and resplendent show room.

I hope you enjoy our website. If you ever have a chance to come to Seventy Seven North Court Street, you can see our memorabilia of the past six generations on display in the store.
